Accidents happen and sometimes a glass unit will get broken or damaged. It is not really possible to repair these and in most cases the existing sealed unit is both beyond repair and actually an old type unit which is not doing a very good job of keeping the heat inside your home.
It is relatively inexpensive to change these for a brand new energy efficient sealed unit which will help keep the heat inside your home under last much longer than the original unit was intended to last.
The amount of heat lost through your windows is significantly reduced by replacing the glass with an efficient Double Glazed Unit, as the specialist glass coating keeps some heat from escaping through the glass.
Even in rooms with large amounts of glazing an efficient sealed unit retains internal heat and helps to eliminate the cold spots nearest to your windows.

Can my existing glass unit be repaired?
Sealed units can not be permanently repaired. At point of manufacture an energy efficient sealed unit bonds together two sheet of glass (with special coatings) and an energy saving inert gas to create the best barrier possible against heat loss in your home.
Once this seal is broken or has started to leak there is no long term way of re sealing and re gassing the unit which will actually stand the test of time. (click here to see why)
In most cases we have found that our customers existing sealed units do not already have the energy saving glass coatings required to keep in the heat and need updating.
Long term it is much more cost effective to simply replace the unit with a new energy efficient one.
What is the process to change a sealed unit?

Technical survey
We will check all the measurements and produce a technical survey.
As these are made to measure we take a 30% deposit.
Manufacture
We will manufacture highly efficient sealed units to fit your existing frames. We only use the best possible technology for maximum insulation and energy saving.
Installation
Our local installers will attend site to install the units. They have years of experience and there will be little or no mess. We will clean the new glass.
Will it cost me a fortune?
This depends on who you buy from.
There are lots of companies who specialise in the "miracle product / slick salesman / I'll call my boss for a discount" type approach.

Before you call Thermaglass.
It's a simple matter to take some rough measurements of your sealed units.
Simply run a tape measure from the left edge of where the glass begins to the right edge where the glass finishes. This is best done in centimetres but if you feel more comfortable in inches we can use those measurements too. Once you have measured the width simply measure the height using the same technique. Write those down on a piece of paper before you call and we can easily give you a price.
Of course there are many more measurements to take to manufacture an actual sealed unit. We need to assess unit thickness, beading type, security fixings and security glass requirements but we can do these at point of survey if the price is agreeable.
